Cops: Man Threw Caged Chihuahua At Relative
Accused puppy tosser faces battery rap
NOVEMBER 1--During an argument with a family member, a Florida Man picked up a metal cage housing a one-year-old Chihuahua and threw it at his relative, according to police who arrested the alleged dog tosser for domestic battery.
According to investigators, Stephone Johnson, 27, engaged in a “verbal confrontation” Tuesday evening with a female cousin inside his St. Petersburg residence. Johnson, cops allege, threatened to harm his cousin and other individuals present in the home.
At one point, Johnson allegedly picked up a black metal cage which “contained a one-year-old Chihuahua named Roscoe” and “threw the cage and the dog at the victim.”
Johnson’s cousin was struck by the cage, which resulted in a minor bruise to her arm. An arrest affidavit does not address whether Roscoe was injured during his brief flight inside the cage (which is often used for house training purposes).
Pictured above, Johnson reportedly admitted to “throwing the dog and the cage” during a police interview. He was arrested on a misdemeanor domestic battery charge and booked into the county jail (from which he was released Wednesday afternoon on his own recognizance). A judge has ordered Johnson to have no contact with his cousin.
Johnson’s rap sheet includes convictions for trespass, theft, and battery. In the battery case, Johnson was arrested for shoving his mother during an argument. Johnson, who previously worked at Taco Bell, is listed as unemployed in the court affidavit. (1 page)
